Ocular Coherence Tomography, also known as OCT, is a powerful tool used to take scans of the eye
uses
The OCT (optical coherence tomography) is an advanced, multi functioning instrument that supplements your eye exam. It is able to scan and analyse the different layers of the inside of your eye. It can also act as a camera and take a digital photograph of the inside of the eye.
The test is quick and painless, and afterwards the doctor will review the results with you.
The OCT can aid in the diagnosis of many conditions, such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, complications due to diabetes, and many more. It is also useful in monitoring and detecting any changes that may be occurring inside the eye. In addition, if you are on certain medications, your family doctor or specialist may request that you have an OCT scan.
The health of your eyes is important to us, which is why we have the OCT available to all of our patients.
